By the sea, by the beautiful sea: Sandy Hook beach in the 1960s
Slather on the sunscreen — summer's heating up.
It might feel like perfect beach weather lately, but unless you leave early, a sun-filled afternoon may devolve into a long, hot conga line on the Garden State Parkway. In that case, it might be tempting to detour to one of the area's closest beaches, like the one at Sandy Hook.
It might not have much in the way of a boardwalk, but fishing, swimming, sunbathing and lighthouse peeping give sun-seekers plenty to do.
