Electrical Metal Tubing (EMT) sizing gauge

Many times I have to measure pipes, tubing, and conduit during field work in old buildings destined for renovation.

I designed this tool to assist me in that task.

This gauge can be used to identify the size of thin-wall EMT (Conduit). Very handy for exploratory field work.

I have provided three versions of the files:

  1. No chamfers - this is a plain set, with just a hole to connect them together
  2. Chamfer - this set was desinged to allow you to hang the finished set on a key ring
  3. Swiss - This set has a raised section (spacer) that when incorporated with a small washer, allows the set to be bolted together and used like a swiss army knife.

I used Inland PLA+ for my set, and changed color for the accent lettering. My print set already has this switch incorporated into the print. The included print files are for the Swiss version.

The holes are perfect for either a #10 or a 5mm machine screw (the 5mm will be tight, but you just need to screw it through the hole, this will keep them from flopping loose)

I used long screws, with plans to cut the screws down to length. I also added 10mm washers between the sections to allow for smoother movement. I used M5x10mmx1mm Nylon Washers (see below)

After assembly, I added a lock nut - this allows easy movement without the individual parts flopping around.

Please Enjoy!

More gauges coming soon!
